HOORAY. After a morning of looking after Baby V as best a man can when he can’t walk (this largely consisted of Baby V climbing over me much like Sherpa Tenzing would Everest) I hit a lucky break. With TGW out interviewing a potential nanny to assist us with V duty, and with V worn out from her mountainous activities and asleep, I was able to do some stretches and manipulate the knee and ice it. After 90 minutes and two episodes of the excellent Baptiste (a French detective, detectiving in Amsterdam) the knee freed up. Weakness abounded in the thigh muscles, but the leg was straight and I am mobile once again. To celebrate, a trip to the park with V (Milson’s Park is excellent for kiddies) – swings and roundabouts – literally. And then a moment of weakness – I was invited to the pub … so I went.

  • Exercise: modest little walk to the park; bicep curls with a pint of beer
  • Eats: actually quite good; a salmon pan-fried and large salad plus a jacket potato
  • Cheats: obvs the beer at the pub
