Well, quite a hiatus – not even a final sign off on the old DadBod challenge (3kg lost – not heaps, but – weight re-arranged and jeans in particular now too loose).

So what have you missed, avid reader (!)? Well Baby V is now 20 months old and has rapidly moved from beginner walker to expert climber … nothing is out of reach! What’s more alarming / impressive is that V can quite quickly assess a situation in front of her, say, a need to get onto the dining room table (no chairs on the free edges as that’s just a no brainer for V to pull one out and climb up) … well, she thinks, maybe I’ll just pull my indoor slide across the lounge and climb up the ladder of that. All you’ve done is step into the kitchen to make a coffee and you return to the lounge to discover your daughter up to her elbows in the fresh cut flowers in the vase. Or changing your laptop settings that you naively left unprotected. Or even starting a Teams meeting looking to progress the project on your behalf…

I write to you from Sydney’s latest COVID lockdown. This has been a tester as we have to stay indoors unless shopping for food or out for exercise. Of course the silver lining is so much more time at home with Baby V; the challenge – to entertain her sufficiently whilst we juggle that with working from home. Fortunately, Sydney has blessed the lockdown thus far with spectacular weather meaning trips out to the park for exercise and fresh air are a welcome break from being indoors. The DadBod challenge has stalled a bit but is progressing, just not at the gym … ~20k steps a day is the aim for walking and some hidden (from me, anyway) gems have been discovered within the neighbouring suburbs.

Since February, V has blossomed into a sometime quite serious little girl, nonetheless spirited and seemingly very content. She loves her arts and crafts, most recently thoroughly colouring herself in rather than the art pad. Pain au chocolate are another love … she also colours herself in with the chocolate from these too – I just didn’t appreciate how far chocolate can spread. Football of the soccer variety is a developing passion which Daddso is very excited about – I often reflect how can it be possible for a little human to go from a first step to running up and giving a ball a hefty boot inside 10 months. Just one of the marvels of little people’s development.

Well, reader, I must off out now to take V for some exercise and fresh air. It’s ‘wintry’ 18c so I think it might be some beach time. I shall commit to you, dear reader, to share my thoughts on at least a weekly basis.

Cheerio!
