Water based activities today

So – made it through the week and Saturday comes. Already know that today is a cheat day, however, whilst no gyming, some kayaking around the harbour is on the cards. Picked up the kayaks from Manly wharf around 10am (https://manlykayakcentre.com.au/); paddled to Little Manly. Capsized. Rescued by brother. ‘Docked’ at Little Manly; cue some swimming and floating activities. Off to Store beach next; lovely little cove you can arguably only get to be boat (some boats were a lot nicer than our kayaks … if you have the room to install a two storey inflatable water slide on the side of your boat, you probably have done pretty well in life.

Final port of call was Quarantine Station and then the paddle straight back across the harbour towards the wharf; fairly choppy in spite of it being a lovely day to be on the water; fears of another capsize were allayed by the discovery that if you use these things called tummy muscles you are much more stable when you paddle. All up a great few hours on the water.

Then the cheat, I hear you ask. Well, it came in the form of beers at Four Pines, Manly (https://4pinesbeer.com.au/our-venue/brewpub-manly-brewery/) along with pulled pork tacos, followed by – well, a few more beers, a ferry ride to the city, a beer or two and sadly, I confess, a trip to the Golden Arches. Maybe back on track tomorrow….

  • Exercise: well, lots of paddling; I guess almost specifically a top half of the body workout. The floating – probably not a huge calorie burner, but quite good for the mind, spirit and soul
  • Eats: eek; toast for brekkie, a berry smoothie, an apple and a cereal bar to keep me going through kayaking; three pulled pork tacos for lunch and a good old Big Mac at the end of the evening
  • Cheats: a number of high quality beers and the Golden Arches visit. I shall endeavour to improve.
